Practice for the judgement a skipper needs
SkipperPrep is an independent online learning platform for people preparing for Day Skipper theory. It turns navigation, tides, weather, collision regulations and passage planning into short explanations followed by decisions, calculations and retrieval.
What the platform is for
Use it before a course to arrive with the vocabulary and core mental models already in place, or alongside formal training to practise weak areas between sessions. Progress, spaced review and mock papers help turn a large syllabus into a manageable next step.
What it is not
SkipperPrep is not affiliated with or endorsed by the RYA, is not a recognised training centre, and does not issue a Day Skipper certificate. It cannot replace a certificated course, a qualified instructor, practical training, current official publications or the skipper's responsibility for a safe passage.
Accuracy without borrowed authority
The site distinguishes internal editorial checks from independent expert review. A page will only say “reviewed by” when a named, qualified reviewer has actually reviewed that material. Until then, the platform makes no such claim. Material is maintained against the source hierarchy and correction rules published here.
